The 19000 hectares of protected reserve are located approximately 2 hours from Quito.

It is very popular destination for birdwatchers and nature lovers who want to see some of Ecuador’s western forest that also attract scientists, ornithologists, orchidiologist to see the wide variety of orchids species that inhabit the forest of the area some are unique in the world.
One of the activities this day includes is the famous “Mariposario” or butterfly-farm where you can learn about the evolutionary cycle of butterflies and observe the great variety that exists.
