Have you ever been to the equator line? This is your chance! Experience the different experiments to prove that you are at the Center of the Earth. Here lies the purpose-built, colonial-style complex of whitewashed buildings, gift shops, bars and museums known as “El mitad del mundo” (middle of the world)

Description of the Tour

You will be picked up from your Quito hotel at your time of convenience and will head north with your private transportation (approx. 45 min) to leave the city. Before reaching the Mitad del Mundo ¨The middle of the world¨ we will appreciate the view of the Pululahua crater the only inhabited in the world.
Close to the actual Equator line we will visit the Intiñan museum which has fascinating exhibits of astronomical geography and interesting explanations of the importance of Ecuador’s geographical location. The museum features a number of interactive exhibits demonstrating events that occur only on the equator.

Old Town (Historical Center)

As you stroll the cobblestone streets of Centro Historico, taking in treasure trove of magnificent basilicas, grand plazas, elegant palaces, museums ans monasteries, it will come as no surprise that this was the first city to receive UNESCO World Heritage status.
What further impresses is that this is no open-air cultural museum showpiece filled with tacky souvenir stores; instead, is very much a pulsating commercial hub without a whiff of a tourist trap. Despite the lavish, heritage backdrop, here is very much about the present – the plazas, cafes and restaurants are packed with chatty locals in what remains the capital’s political and cultural beating heart.
